Milan Women's Fashion Week: Multiple brands withdrew but the number of days increased

After New York and London, Milan will take over and will host the 2019 Spring Summer Women's Fashion Week on Tuesday, September 18th to Monday, September 24th. The number of days in this fashion week is one more than the previous season. There will be a variety of events held next Tuesday.

Although there are 13 brands absent, including Gucci chose to move to Paris catwalk. However, due to the addition of eight new brands, the entire schedule remains balanced: Agnona, Fila, AF Vandevorst, GCDS, Act n°1, Ultràchic, Chika Kisada and Tiziano Guardini. There are also three old cards back: Byblos, Iceberg and Philipp Plein.

This year's Fashion Week will be added next Tuesday and all day, there will be many events to be unveiled. First appeared in the Italian brand Curiel Couture for the first time in Milan, the brand began to recover after being acquired by China's new owner Acer Fashion in 2016. In addition, the fashion show of the Italian brand Luisa Spagnoli, which will celebrate its 90th anniversary, is also expected.

Also on this Tuesday, Italian sports brand Fila will hold a retrospective in Milan and debut on Sunday, September 23, to showcase the brand's first fashion collection designed by young designer Antonino Ingrasciotta and Joseph Graesel.

Starting on Wednesday, the normal schedule has 165 series and 59 official fashion shows, compared with 156 series and 61 fashion shows in February. There are also 82 static exhibitions and 44 events. There are of course many off-court fashion shows, including Dolce & Gabbana's fashion show on Sunday, September 23. There is also a Chinese brand fashion show featuring Fashion Shenzhen Group: Song Lisi and Shadow Fashion.

The most anticipated fashion show includes: AF Vandevorst brand left Paris this year, changed to Milan to celebrate the anniversary fashion show, and the Emporio Armani brand fashion show. The brand will host a mixed men's and women's fashion show at the Milan airport's huge hangar on Thursday, September 20. More than 2,000 guests will be present. Jil Sander will also host a fashion show at a converted old bakery.

Another major fashion event is the 2nd Italian Italian Green Carpet Fashion Award, a sustainable fashion award presented by the Italian Fashion Chamber of Commerce with government support. It will host a large party on the closing day of September 23.

In addition to this, there are fashion shows such as White Milano and Super, as well as countless events, including the Milano XL exhibition, which once again set up six large interactive installations throughout Milan to showcase the Italian style.

In addition to the old brands such as Prada, Fendi, Moschino, Versace, Roberto Cavalli and Ferragamo, this fashion show will also showcase many fashion newcomers. For example, the Act n°1 brand has won the Who in on next 2017 award, and it has now entered 40 brand collection stores. The brand was founded in 2016 by Luca Lin (son of Chinese immigrants) and Galib Gassanoff. The brand is characterized by the convergence of multiculturalism.

Another winner was Tiziano Guardini, who won the Italian Green Carpet Fashion Awards Rookie Award, and he is considered an “environmental fashion designer”. In addition, there is Chika Kisada, who has moved from the dance industry to the fashion world and re-interpreted women's styling with the inspiration of ballet and body proportions.

The first show of Agnona and Ultràchic is equally worthy of attention. These two are actually not new brands. The former was born in 1953 and is now owned by the Ermenegildo Zegna Group, which began a new development in 2015 after being the creative director of Simon Holloway. The second brand was launched in 2006 by Diego Dossola and Viola Baragiola, the former creative director, the latter responsible for the company's business, which is well-managed and currently has a branch in downtown Milan.

Many young or qualified brands have withdrawn from Milan Fashion Week in recent seasons. Due to the uncertain economic environment, it is sometimes difficult to support the huge cost of holding a fashion show. Albino Teodoro, Lucio Vanotti, Vionnet, Emilio Pucci and Au Jour le Jour have all changed to static exhibitions this season.

Christian Pellizzari, Trussardi, Angel Chen and other brands do not belong to either mode. The Piccione.Piccione brand, which is being reorganized, the Mila Sch?n brand, which is suspended by the artistic director, and the Krizia brand, which is fully restructured, are also the same. The Krizia brand was once the representative of Italian fashion in the 1980s and 1990s. It was acquired by Shenzhen Masfair Fashion Group in 2014.

In addition, the last new brand was unveiled on Monday, September 24th, which was closed on Fashion Week, but it was on the event calendar. This is the Chinese women's brand Jessie. The brand creative director is the Italian designer Federico Piaggi, who worked for Gianfranco Ferré. This is also the first time this Chinese brand has appeared on the international stage, in the catwalk show in Milan.
